One day I had hit my heaviest weight and couldn't fit into any of my clothes
I had gained 10kg (20 pounds) in a matter of 9 months after going through a breakup and then trying to fix the issue by cutting out carbs and focusing on eating loads of vegetables, protein and going to the gym.
I lost a few kg/pounds prior to a contiki trip and felt so good on that trip because I was slimmer, but when I got back I couldn't maintain those results and felt helpless and weak willed.
I just couldn't stop eating and I couldn't stop the weight from coming back on. If I'd put on just 4 more kg (8 pounds) I'd be considered overweight.
I would focus on the eating and the exercise and changing my eating habits rather than learning about my mindset, limiting beliefs, emotions and what situations these were attracting.
I wanted so badly just to eat normally and manage my weight without all the stress and anxiety.
I wanted to fully get rid of my emotional eating, chronic dieting and binge eating habits.
I had lost weight many many times before, but previously it had felt forced and it felt like I was walking on egg shells trying not to gain it back.
This time around it was permanent and the approach was backed with feelings of ease, love and compassion. I had created an amazing relationship with food and my body.
My stress levels had dropped. I did not even realise how much of my existing stress and anxiety was actually related to my eating and weight.
I have the ease of being a naturally slim person now, this is a reality that I created myself and I am so super proud of that.
MY life became easier, my relationships were better, I even stopped binge drinking because it was all interconnected into my toxic thoughts and emotions.

My beautiful daughter (inside and out). She is my biggest supporter. I can always count on her to say “how’s the diet going, mom?”. This is her favorite thing to ask when I’m slipping. I don’t necessarily think of my new journey as a diet, but rather a choice. It’s always a choice what I feed my body. Nonetheless, she is my heart and my world, and I love that she is fearless and never afraid to tell me to get it together. I love you, Ash.

It’s Sunday night and you might be reading this thinking “ok tomorrow I’m getting my diet on point and nailing my workouts”
While i applaud your plan to dominate this week...let me caution you as well
Weekends are, for most, a time to let loose and enjoy events that come with food, drinks, late nights and a less predictable schedule
Now don’t get it twisted, enjoying life and having some freedom to eat what you want and throwback a few is 100% cool. Buuuuuut...if you’re not seeing results with your fitness plan- it might be time to be honest about how much you’re really letting things go on the weekends
- Incorporate things like power fasting to allow more food later in the day and crush your early day cravings
-Get more activity in with Power Walks on the weekends
-Be strict and enjoy mostly protein and veggies during the day to allow more carbs and fats at night
-Stick to a 2 drink max for social events and avoid the high calorie mixers
